Why Online and Live Poker Differ So Considerably.
Why are these people complaining? Most of these players are experienced poker players both online and off, who understand poker better than many online players. Allow me to explain...
Live poker is played with your own money and in accordance with its original intention - as a skill-based game rather than one governed by chance. Cards should be played differently depending on your current situation; you should know your opponent well enough that your cards should respond differently, recognizing any "tells". In order to master live poker successfully you'll need the ability to "read" opponents. Once this skill has been learned you may need to adjust your play in order to account for unknown variables in play against you opponent.
Online poker players and the reasons they call one another 'donks" or "fixers" is an ongoing debate amongst poker enthusiasts, often because many sites will give simple answers like more hands being played online as to why "bad beats happen", though that answer might not always be accurate or sufficient.
Online poker provides us with a "simulation effect", in which players act like they're using a computer game - this effect alone ensures there is no fear or danger from this type of gameplay. Just like driving games for consoles, computers, or arcades, playing poker online does not compare as it too is just another game! For many people online poker is simply another form of entertainment rather than skill based gameplay and that reality cannot be distinguished easily enough from its representation online - online poker skins do nothing to distinguish it from reality when it comes to what makes this type of gameplay unlike its counterparts elsewhere!
There is also the phenomenon of "lucky hands", those which have brought you great success in the past and give players false hope they cannot lose or will win more by playing it. Online poker, with all its virtual opponents treating poker like it were based on chance rather than skill alone, creates surprising outcomes from time to time that seem lucky compared to reality - for example 8-3os winning $x in 2001 can become habitually played despite more losses than wins; players playing this hand may forget losses since it becomes part of their everyday gameplay routine; although you should expect losses as you play it more frequently compared to wins compared to wins with 8-3os due to repetition of playing this hand's popularity!
Players tend to approach poker as a game. Their approach, coupled with some incredible luck (in certain instances), gives them the illusion that they are immune from loss - much like when using an artificial intelligence computer program.
How do we solve it? In simple terms, no. Why not? Online poker requires different skills than live poker, so even though you might educate an occasional "donkey" to the fact that Ace-rag doesn't make an acceptable poker hand, most will continue using "it was just my lucky hand".
Real-life poker players (oh no! Did I just say that? Online and live games differ, with online being significantly tighter in terms of play. For me personally, tighter game plays tend to result in more obvious and costly "bad losses", compared with live poker; but on the upside I find tighter games more successful; winning more often than losing.) are different from each other in many respects.
Simply stated, stop complaining, stop moaning and play your game - but tailor it according to circumstances and have FUN with it. Online poker can be particularly difficult and relies heavily on luck; I wish you all the best (except when facing me! ).
